Picamilon and it's Place in the Group of 
Well-Known Nootropic Drugs

Abstract

Picamilon - N-nicotinoyl-GABA is a new vasoactive drug with nootropic properties.  It has anti-amnesic activity on two models of amnesia of passive avoidance response, caused by maximum electro shock and scopolamine on mice.  Picamilon increases exploratory behavior in open field.  In comparison with the known nootropic drugs, picamilon produces a specific antiamnestic effecy in lower doses, than piracetam, etiracetam, aniracetam.  Effects of deanol, aceglumat, centrophenoxine, and picamilon, received in the same doses, are similar. But picamilon is less potent than nicergoline.
